Don’t have a degree? While having a degree can help in any job application, it’s not essential for teaching English as a foreign language and many people are able to teach abroad without one. The TEFL Academy have put together a handy infographic that showcases where you can teach English overseas without having a degree, including the places with the highest salary and the places with the lowest cost of living. Let’s take a look further:

The Places with the Highest Salary
If you want to earn decent money, you’ll want to choose one of the following destinations, which have the highest monthly average salary:
Argentina – $2960
Greece – $2700
Mexico – $2000
France – $1388
Italy – $1035
Spain – $1125
Nicaragua – $970
Poland – $950
Costa Rica – $830
Cambodia – $650
As you can see from the list, Argentina comes out as the destination where you can earn the most money. This is closely followed by Greece and Mexico.
Places With the Lowest Living Cost
Of course money won’t go very far if the cost of living is high. That’s why it’s always important to take into account what you’ll earn versus what you would spend on living costs. The countries with the lowest average monthly living cost are as follows:
Uruguay – $155
Russia – $295
Romania – $308
Argentina – $340
Nicaragua – $443
Bolivia – $468
Mexico – $480
India – $495
Colombia – $498
Chile – $500
As you can see, Uruguay would be the cheapest place to live and work, closely followed by Russia and Romania.
But what stands out is that Argentina, which has the highest average monthly salary for TEFL, also has one of the lowest costs of living, so you should be able to save money here. Nicaragua and Mexico also make both lists, so these would be good options if you want to make decent money and not spend too much.
If you’re planning to teach TEFL without a degree, there are plenty of options for you – the question is, which one will you choose?
